Best things to do in Akaroa
Walks
Our Bed and Breakfast is a great starting point for walks ! Bring your walking boots to walk to the waterfall (40 minutes roundtrip) or the many farm tracks. Cycle the Summit Road and take in the breathtaking views of Akaroa Harbour—an extinct volcanic crater.
From the Banks track to short walks, there are tracks and hikes for all levels. Start planning or ask us for maps and advices !
Wildlife cruises
Akaroa is home to the smallest and rarest dolphins in the world- the Hector’s Dolphins. You can swim with them, or watch them from a wildlife cruise boat. Take the chance to tick a few things of your New Zealand bucket list, and sail the Pacific ocean on the oldest ketch in the country for a magical moment. See the white-flippered penguin at Pohatu penguin colony or visit the colonies of New Zealand sea lions and fur seals on kayak tours.
